Intro
Fujin is a minor character in the game of Final Fantasy VIII. She is a member of the disciplinary committee along with Seifer Almasy and Raijin. In the game this is the primary group of "bad guys" (or henchmen, really) before we get into Ultimecia, but the term doesn't really fit; Seifer wasn't in control of himself entirely (or was at least being persuaded by someone with authority and something he wanted, which can cause one to do things they wouldn't normally do), and Fujin and Raijin didn't want to leave their friends' side. Antagonists is a more fitting term.

Manner
Fujin is a mysterious character, and if you're like me, she seemed inhuman when the game first started (I thought she was a robot). She speaks in harsh one-to-two word "sentences", and seems to have no emotion whatsoever. Her phrases are all capitalized as well, which could mean a number of things. In most cases it means shouting, but I find it hard to imagine someone shouting all of the time, especially Fujin, who I see as firm but not over the top. It could be just an emphasis placed on what she is saying, but all in all I feel this could have been dealt with a little better or explained differently. She doesn't always speak like this, however. For example, in her speech to Seifer on Disk 3 in the Lunatic Pandora (also where she used full sentences for the first and only time in the game), she speaks fluently and just as smoothly as everyone else in game. In my opinion, she probably speaks this way because she seems like sort of an outsider in the game (the only people she is ever with are Seifer and Raijin, and no one else really even talks to her), and she uses her manner of speaking to infuse some strength into herself, because she may not feel strong at all. However, this manner of speech has probably caused her to be even more ostracized than before. Then again, maybe that's what she wanted all along.

She is often portrayed as bitter and easy to anger, but also as a person who hides their emotions not always for the better, but well. She is also a very strong willed individual, and can recognize when something has gone too far, even if it goes against her loyalty.

Physical Aspects
Physically, Fujin seems small-medium framed, but considering she is a soldier, it wouldn't be unreasonable to say that she could be hiding a little more muscle than we can see.

She is considered an albino, which means she has no pigment in her skin, hair, or eyes. I say considered because Square does not explicitly say she is, but there is plenty of evidence to suggest it. It's a genetic disorder that is often inherited from parents who show no symptoms (we never know anything about Fujin's family anyways). Her hair is short, choppy and silver, her skin is white, and her eyes are crimson (as far as I can tell, since there isn't ever an eye close up; regardless, not all albinos have red eyes. In fact, most have blue and plenty have brown eyes), all which are (somewhat) characteristic of albinos. Albinos generall have white hair, but she could very well dye her hair silver, or it is just in her character design for her hair to appear more silver, even though it is supposed to be white (honestly, when has Final Fantasy ever been NOT unusual with their character designs?).

She wears an eyepatch over her left eye, for reasons unknown. No information is given on it though, so she could just be trying to look tough (arg). Though, it is a fact that many albinos have poor vision as a side effect, so it could have something to do with that.

Her outfit consists of a large blue uniform-like shirt, lined in gold, dark slacks and dark shoes. She wears a large guard on her left shoulder with kanji on it. It's a pretty basic design, really. Maybe she's supposed to look utilitarian or something

NOTE: Since Fujin is a minor character, her stats & background are never really given. Most of these are assumptions from information I've picked up. Fujin isn't well developed in the game at all.

Fujin in Kingdom Hearts II

Fujin is apparently cool enough to make an appearance in another Square game (but honestly, we all knew that already). Fujin appears in Kingdom Hearts II as "Fuu," and is still a part of the Disciplinary Committee with Seifer and Raijin ("Rai"). They apparently "rule" over Twilight Town, and are pretty much the same, though Fujin doesn't talk in caps anymore (which means they changed it so we wouldn't think she was yelling, hence she probably was never yelling, just talking in a clipped nature). I'd love to douse you all with information, but unfortunately I don't own KH2. I didn't really like the first one, so I didn't pick up this one. Two of my good friends did though, so I'll squeeze info from them once they actually get far enough to tell me anything.

At any rate, we can see the Fuu has had a "makeover," if you will, and looks a lot more casual than she did before. She's ditched the eyepatch and instead just has her hair draped over her eye. One important thing is to note that she DOES have red eyes (eye), which is something I have seen contested against a few times. I assume this means her eyes are red in FFVIII as well, which makes her without a doubt an albino, and not just a lady with grey hair! She wears a very similar kind of top, sans sleeves, but her pants are different and, in my opinion, a lot cuter. She seems to have slimmed down a bit too ;D Overall she looks younger, but I think it's a great redesign. It makes her seem a lot less militant, which she certainly seemed to be in FFVIII.

If anyone has played the game and wants to contribute info about Fuu, please don't hesitate to email me. I'll credit you fully!

Fujin in Other Games

Fujin hasn't actually been in other games, but I read a while ago (on Wikipedia, so you can judge its validity) that Fujin and Raijin were supposed to be characters in Final Fantasy 7 (along with Edea), but with the Turks they were seen as useless, and therefore were used in Final Fantasy 8 instead. Whether this is true or not, since Wiki is fairly inaccurate, it is still an interesting little tidbit.
